Jereley Krystel "Jel" Salgo, 33 years old, is my wife, Ruth's, niece, and she was diagnosed about three weeks ago with "Triple Negative" breast cancer. This is a very aggressive form of breast cancer and has spread to her sternum and spine. A diagnosis of cancer always comes as a shock, but it is especially so for such a young, active woman as Jel is.

Jel's parents are Jerry and Shirley Salgo. I worked with Jerry at Children's Shelter of Cebu in the Philippines from 1997 to 2016. Jerry worked with me to manage the construction of Cebu Children of Hope School, and later to help me manage the construction of CSC's Duterte Home and Infirmary. He also was a key organizer with me to host ministry teams from Central Baptist Church that held Family Camps for CSC's children from 2006 to 2016. Jerry remains on the leadership team of CSC as Operations Director.

Shirley has worked for many years with children and families at Bulacao Grace Community Church in Cebu City.

Jel is a talented young woman who just started a new job, but doesn't qualify for health insurance yet. Her medical bills for chemotherapy (12 sessions), scans, and Pembrolizumab immunotherapy (infusions every three weeks for two years) are expected to reach $50,000. It could go higher. But the Pembrolizumab immunotherapy gives her the best chance to fight this aggressive form of breast cancer.

But while we would be blessed to raise $50,000 in a short time, the funds are needed over a two-year period. So, we are starting with a goal of $12,500 for the first six months of treatment.

Jel has challenging weeks and months ahead, but we trust in God for her healing and her financial need. Both seem overwhelming, but God is good and He has the power to both heal and provide for all her needs.
