Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to ask for help for my dad, Jeff. He’s going through a really tough time right now. He was just hospitalized for lower body edema, pulmonary edema, and heart failure caused by aortic stenosis. His aortic valve has a genetic defect, and now he needs a valve replacement to get back to good health.
Even though he’s insured, there are still a lot of costs that aren’t covered—plus, he’ll need time off work to recover, which adds to the financial stress. To make things harder, he can’t access the FAMLI program right now because of a leg fracture he had last year (it’s been a rough year).
The good news is that my dad has been working hard to turn things around. He’s managed his type 2 diabetes by going vegan and making some big lifestyle changes. He’s doing everything he can to come out of this stronger, but he could use a little extra help right now.
