On June 12, 2025, my sister was on her way to work; she was stopped at a red light. The light turned green, and she took her foot off the brake to go. That's when a semi/box truck rear-ended her. The box truck had to be removed from the top of my sister's truck. My sister was slammed into a guardrail on the right side. Jean suffered multiple broken ribs, a shattered elbow, and a broken shoulder blade. She had stitches and surgery. She has insurance on her truck, but it is not full coverage. The box truck's driver could not speak English, and there was no company name or DOT # on the truck. The investigation is still open, so we don't know much about it.
I want to try and ease my sister's worries. She will be out of work for a while; she has 6 weeks before she can even use her right arm. She now has no vehicle. Her glasses and phone were left in the truck, which was never recovered. Jean is a single mother of 2 kids. Bella is 8 years old, and Calvin is 17 years old. She has a mortgage payment, electric, gas, and food. Anything will help.
Update: Jean was released from the hospital and is staying with our mother. She can't do much of anything right now. She did contact a attorney. We were able to get her stuff from the truck. Seeing it up close was crazy!! I don't know how she survived, but thank God she did.
All funds raised will go to help Jean pay her bills and get back and forth to appointments. Food for her and the kids and anything else she needs before insurance comes thru. She is also going to need another car!!
