Jason's Cancer Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Jason, our son, is waging a war against cancer and needs some help. Until now Jason and wife, Rochelle, have made it on their own on the cancer battleground. But they are being smothered by medical and other expenses. It was a tough decision, but we decided to ask for help from others.

The journey began when Jason was diagnosed with testicular cancer and a tumor was surgically removed. Unfortunately the cancer spread to his abdomen and he continues treatments. His life has been turned upside-down but Jason remains upbeat and optimistic. I am amazed at what he’s been through and still has retained his sense of humor. Look where this journey has taken him:

  • Surgery to remove testicular tumor
  • Surgery on hyperparathyroid gland
  • Wheelchair bound after blood clots
  • Radiation therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hospitalized after his white blood cell dipped dangerously low to -1 (normal is 5.3-11).
  • EMERGENCY ROOM visits
  • Even with health insurance, medical bills are staggering; not everything is covered. And it’s important that he make his $500 per month health insurance payment to ensure that his cancer treatment and care can continue
  • Until recently he has been able to work. But Jason is now without a paycheck while he completes and recovers from chemo
  • He’s lost 40 lbs.
  • He lost his hair
  • Jason has undergone transfusions, infusions; he has been poked, prodded, scanned and scoped.
  • List of medications he needs has grown longer

And yet he smiles and carries on! But Jason needs a little boost to get him through the next few months. As you can imagine, the loss of income makes it a challenge to cover house and auto payments, medications and procedures that are not covered, expenses getting to/from medical appointments and everyday expenses like groceries. Jason and Rochelle are struggling to make ends meet and could use a little light in their life.

There are a lot of worthy causes out there, but if you are able to make a donation in ANY amount, it would help Jason and Rochelle get through the next few months. Even a SMALL donation can make a BIG difference.
  • A donation of $10 or $20 can help toward groceries
  • $30 will cover transportation to/from a medical appointment
  • $50 pays for a month of blood thinner meds for blood clots
  • $100 is a nice chunk to Emergency Room visits not covered.
  • $250 is 1/2 month of medical insurance
  • $500 is one full month of medical insurance for Jason
  • $1000 is close to covering one month's house payment
If you aren't able to donate but you want to help, we appreciate prayers and positive thoughts. AND PLEASE SHARE this with your friends and family.

If you don't know Jason and his family, here's a bit more about them. Jason, a Navy veteran and an electrical engineer, was born and raised in Minnesota. He and Rochelle have been married for over 20 years and have one son, Austin. Rochelle has a big heart and teaches special education students in grades K-5 at Mississippi Elementary School in Coon Rapids. Austin is a recent high school graduate now studying culinary arts and applied science. Jason, Rochelle and Austin love the outdoors (hiking, swimming, kayaking, camping, etc.) and can't wait to get back out again soon. Jason is looking forward to EATING like normal again (mass quantities and often!) but right now he is living on bland stuff like applesauce and Ensure. When his appetite returns he can't wait to enjoy mac & cheese, fried chicken, Chinese and beer (feel free to earmark your donation toward a beer fund; he'd get a kick out of that!). I hope you can help!
