Hi, my name is Derik Alphonse, and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of one of my closest friends as I have known him for 8 years and been through almost anything you can imagine with him, James Howard Ross, who is currently fighting for his life after a tragic accident.

Just a few days ago, while helping to cut down a tree, something went horribly wrong. The tree unexpectedly shifted and came crashing down, striking James directly on the head. He was rushed to the nearest ER and airlifted to the nearest hospital in critical condition, where doctors made the difficult decision to remove a portion of his skull to fix a bleed and relieve the immense pressure from severe brain swelling and bruising.

Right now, James is in the ICU, in a medically induced coma, while the medical team monitors his brain function and tries everything they can to reduce the swelling. The road ahead is long, uncertain, and will likely involve multiple surgeries, extensive rehabilitation, and long-term care.

James is one of the kindest, most hardworking people I know. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need—and now he’s the one who needs help. His family is staying by his side around the clock, missing work and facing mounting medical and travel expenses on top of the emotional toll.

We are raising funds to help cover:

Medical expenses and procedures not covered by insurance

Travel and lodging for his family during his hospital stay

Rehabilitation and physical therapy once he begins recovery

Long-term care and support once he’s out of the hospital
