The Vaughan family is in crisis and needs our help now more than ever. Mike and Sonja's 13-year-old son Jake has been diagnosed with a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the body's immune system. After falling ill, Jake was admitted to Children's Hospital in Seattle on January 17th. Following further testing and procedures, he underwent surgery to remove lymph nodes under both arms. The medical team confirmed that Jake has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. On January 27th, Jake began an intense chemotherapy regimen and will spend 5 days each month at Children's Hospital for treatments. This schedule will continue for 6 months, wrapping up by early summer.
As Jake courageously fights this disease, Mike and Sonja are shouldering an immense burden. Mike juggles work, managing the household, and caring for the family during the day, while Sonja stays by Jake's side each day and night. The daily logistics of this new reality are incredibly challenging. Many of you have already offered support in numerous ways, and the Vaughan family is deeply grateful. Although Children's Hospital provides excellent care, the medical expenses are overwhelming. I urge each of us to give what we can to ease their financial strain as they fight for Jake's recovery.
Jake's journey to full recovery will be long, but his indomitable spirit, combined with the love and support of his family and friends, will see him through. Thank you for keeping Jake and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Your kindness and generosity mean the world to them.
