As most of our Family and Friends know, Jake has battled with a very rare eye cancer. Ocular Melanoma. It is a very aggressive and rare cancer. Five out of every million adults will get this cancer. He was first diagnosed 13 years ago and had brachytherapy at that time. It was a radiation therapy implant. Now, after battling this for 13 years, the cancer returned. This tumor came back very aggressively and grew very quickly. So, on February 18th, Jake had surgery to remove the complete eye, eye socket, cancerous tumor, muscle tissues and nerves. Also, some of the bone had already deteriorated from the tumor. Because the complete eye socket is gone, he will not be able to get a prosthetic eye. He will be having radiation treatments in Memphis for approximately 4-6 weeks. The expert radiation oncologists there in Memphis are the best at treating this very rare cancer. And because there aren't any doctors in Louisiana that treat this rare cancer, we must go to Memphis. Jake will not be able to return to work for several months while receiving treatments and doctor appointments. Because of all the medical bills and the costs involved with traveling back and forth to Memphis many times for his treatments and appointments, it has become a financial hardship. This is why we are asking for your help. We would sincerely appreciate your help. All donations will be very helpful. We greatly appreciate all the love, prayers and people that have reached out to us. Thank you so very much!
