Jada Welch is a native of the Pee Dee. She and her family live and work in Florence, South Carolina. Four years ago, Jada began experiencing migraines, nausea, pain, hives, anxiety, fatigue and suffering illness after illness - never quite getting well before another one knocked her down. She had multiple medical tests done, visited various doctors and did homeopathic solutions as well. She was eventually diagnosed with Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) which is a rare disease leaving the patient with allergies to almost all meat except for fresh fish, chicken and very few foods. This disease has an underlying autoimmune component to it that was causing repeated undiagnosed illnesses. Jada worked hard to try and adjust to her new lifestyle required by AGS. Eating correctly, calling ahead to restaurants to prevent food cross contamination, reading labels, and adding in exercise as tolerated. However, her body was constantly under stress as the autoimmune component was on over drive and continually attacking her body, mentally and physically.
Two years ago, things got completely out of control again despite Jada’s best efforts. Her iron had dropped to intolerable levels, her potassium levels dropped, she had lost weight, could not eat, suffered nonstop from nausea and vomiting and had swelling in various organs and extremities. She was told relatively early in that it appeared to be liver related and not the AGS diagnosis. This meant more testing, more doctors, more fear, and more anxiety. There have been multiple trips to MUSC in Charleston, scheduled and rescheduled surgeries and some good days but mostly bad days health wise.
Today Jada got the official word that she needs a liver transplant. We do not yet know the process or time frame of a transplant, but we do know that she has a mound of medical bills behind her and a mountain of medical bills coming her way. She has not been able to work full-time to help provide for her family for over a year now and has two growing children that need financial support as well as emotional support as she has been struggling in her role as Mother to her two amazing children.
So, now we are here. Asking for financial assistance for someone special to us that has been a warrior through this battle and continues to be a hero to us and her family. Please help us lend a hand to Jada and her family. Prayers and good thoughts of healing, peace and strength for what’s to come are deeply appreciated. Thank you & God Bless!
