Help Jacoby Stay in College and Continue His Journey

Hi, my name is Jacoby July, and I’m a rising sophomore at Morehouse College working hard to build a better future for myself. I’m reaching out to ask for your help.
Four years ago, my life took a major turn when I moved from Mobile, Alabama to Dallas, Texas to live with my older sister. Back home I was surrounded by negativity, failing classes, hanging out with the wrong crowd, and getting into trouble. My sister saw the path I was heading down and stepped in. She became my legal guardian at 15 and gave me a second chance.
I was raised by my grandparents because my mother was struggling with addiction. My older brother caused a lot of pain in our household and after my grandfather passed, the only father figure I had, I started to spiral. I was angry, withdrawn, and felt lost. I got expelled from school, started using marijuana, and bullied others just to feel in control. I didn’t see a future for myself.
But moving to Dallas changed everything. My sister pushed me to do better, held me accountable, and helped me build good habits. I started taking school seriously, got on the A/B Honor Roll, and graduated in the top 10 percent of my class with a 3.7 GPA.
I just finished my freshman year of college with a 3.24 GPA and I’m proud to say I’ve also landed a summer internship that’s giving me real experience in the business world, the field I plan to build my career in. My dream is to become a successful entrepreneur and one day give back to others the way people have poured into me.
This past year has also come with heartbreak. My mother passed away during the final week of my first semester. It hit me hard but I kept going. I knew I had to keep pushing for the life she wanted me to have.
Now I’m at a point where I need financial help to stay in school. Tuition, books, and living expenses are a lot to manage and I’m doing everything I can, but it’s not enough. That’s why I’m asking for your support.
If you’re able to donate, know that every dollar helps me stay on track to graduate, grow, and give back. Even if you can’t give, sharing my story means the world.
Thank you for reading and thank you for believing in me.
