A few years ago I had both of my knees replaced. At the time we didn’t know why this was happening to me, but after a year of searching, my doctors finally found out what the problem was. It’s a genetic disease called Ankylosing spondylitis and lumbar spondylosis. It’s an auto immune disease that attacks my joints, my spine and my neck. My spine is basically fusing together, so i feel extremely stiff and painful with most movement. I’ve been put on disability, but it’s nowhere near enough to cover costs. My condition has gotten worse, and what happened to my knees is what’s currently happening to my hands toes, lower spine and neck. It makes it very difficult to do ANYTHING. I write and I draw, but my hands are swollen. Even taking my son to a movie puts me in bed for the rest of the night. I’ve tried to make some money online streaming, but just sitting up in a chair for more than 30 mins leaves me in pain for the day. I can’t afford to have any sort of a life outside of my chair. I have been living like this for the past 2 years and it’s gotten to be unmanageable. Gainful employment is impossible for me, so I’m here asking for help. Physical therapy eases some of the tightness, but I can barely turn my head around anymore. It’s just constant pain and I’m at a loss for what to do. A bit of help would be much appreciated in this difficult time.
