Donate to Husband's Medical Care and Bills

This fundraiser is for my husband and father of two, who needs assistance with paying medical expenses, medications, costs associated with medical procedures, medical tests, medical diagnoses, and our monthly bills. My husband has been diagnosed with asymmetric atrophy of the left hippocampus in his brain. He has a brain injury that causes problems with his short and long-term memory, verbal memory, declarative memory, balance, coordination, and mobility, and causes seizures of all types. Every day, he experiences focal seizures with and without impaired awareness, absence seizures, tonic seizures, atonic seizures, clonic seizures, myoclonic seizures, and about every 15 to 20 days, a tonic-clonic seizure (grand mal seizure). I am his full-time caregiver. 24/7 he is unable to be alone for any reason.

His and Our Journey Through Brain Injury

In October of 2022, my husband rolled over to go to sleep one evening, at which time I realized he wasn't breathing. I proceeded to give him mouth to mouth but could tell for some reason no air was able to reach his lungs. I had already called 911 and was waiting for help to arrive. Due to air not being able to get to his lungs, his heart stopped. I began performing CPR and was able to restart his heart. In total, between giving breaths and full CPR, I worked on him for about fifteen minutes before the EMS arrived. He was airlifted out to the nearest hospital equipped to handle his condition. Once stable, we returned home, at which time the seizures, plus all his other symptoms, began and haven't stopped even with medication.

Since October 2022, we have lost our home and everything else except select clothing and special items for our children. He lost his job immediately! At this time, we were homeless and moving around, trying to take care of him and our daughters. Living in this situation it has caused difficulties in keeping health insurance and going to doctors. My dad was able to buy us a home in May of 2024. Thanks to the generosity of my dad, we have finally been able to obtain and keep health insurance, which led us to his diagnosis of asymmetric atrophy of the left hippocampus.
