In 2020, Hub was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease after sudden and drastic weightloss. This is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of your digestive tract.
After finding this out, he has be getting infusions at Texas Children’s Hospital every month. These infusions medications average around $40,000 a month. Though insurance helps cover a small portion, it does not cover everything. The family has often struggled due to the mounting expenses.
Recently, Hub started experiencing weight loss again. He found out that the infusions have stopped working and he will now have to have surgery. The surgery will require part of his intestines to be removed and possibly a portion of his colon as well. Hub has unfortunately had to suffer through the more severe effects of Crohn’s than most experience throughout the past five years. We are hoping this surgery will be a first step in getting him some relief and a new treatment plan to stabilize the Crohn’s disease so that he is comfortable and able to function properly.
Hub has graduated high school early in order to start work full time to make money that goes to day to day items, but also to get a head start on medical bills. Hub will be in the hospital for over 5 days after the surgery and down a couple of weeks after that at home to recover.
This GoFundMe is to ensure he can maintain his own bills while recovering, but also help the family while they miss work to help care for him as well.
Please pray that the surgery goes well and that everything heals nicely. We also pray that doctors can find a treatment that will help Hub feel comfortable and avoid any medical complications in the future.
