ADDITION: Mikey has been moved into Orchard Park Health Care Center (Rehabilitation - Centennial CO - Physical Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing (orchardparkhealthcare.com)) for his long-term care. He is in room 501 and would love to have visitors. You’re welcome to share with folks that would like to visit.

Michael “Mikey” W. Schneider, age 47, started working in 1998 with United Operations at Denver International Airport.
He more recently was an Analyst/Supervisor. His career defined more than an income. It defined honor and commitment.

Walking into the only and best job of his life.

We are never given a life that we want.
We are given a life that we cherish when we realize the gifts that came from it.

Mikey was given a life of challenge with Spino Cerebellar Ataxia, similar to ALS.
SCA is a degenerative neurological condition, with no cure, that will take him from us.
It slowly took mobility in his legs, arms, speech and now eyesight and ability to communicate and work.
His doctor is placing him in a 24-7 care facility due to his condition declining.

But it will never take the gifts of his life.

26 years of working for United Airlines with dignity and honor, earning his own way.
Meeting his wife, Melissa, and having a soul mate, along this challenging journey, now with her own challenges.
The birth of Brandon, watching him grow, now a young man, a sophomore, at the University of Denver.
The birth of Brady, discovering his gifts, at age 14 now, with hopes of being a Firefighter.
All the joyous moments shared that rose above the pain, the struggle and the loss.

Paycheck to paycheck, using 401k, OT and On Call, let’s spend one more precious day.
Hop on my wheelchair boys. Let’s catch the train. Go downtown and watch the ball game.
School clothes and shoes, sports games of all kinds. No, not the runner, but the dad that attends.

These are the gifts Mikey will cherish. Thank you for being a part of a life of ability.
Your monetary gift will help his family complete his hopes and dreams and finish his world series.
These hopes and dreams will live beyond his condition as a testament to his legacy.

A witness to the final score and Mikey won!
