My name is Sonji and I have been married to Mark for 10 years. Mark worked two jobs to provide for our household and did it faithfully every day; it's what he enjoys. Mark has worked for Shadow Mountain Community Church (SMCC) as the Athletic Center Supervisor since April 2018. He also worked for HeetWave Properties as the manager since June 20, 2020.

He has always been a hard worker at whatever he chose to do; he would go above and beyond his duties to get the job done.

Mark is a God-fearing man who loves the Lord with his whole being, serves faithfully on the Prison Ministry Team, Juvenile Ministry, and Children's Ministry where they send Christmas cards to all the parents that are incarcerated every year at the GREAT MAILOUT. He really enjoys what he does.

UGANDA MISSIONARY TRIP 2024
On Sept. 11th 2024 , Mark was called to serve on a missionary trip to Uganda, Africa. He was so excited about going to Uganda , that he took vacation time to serve on this mission. Mark was 1 of 8 from SMCC to go on this mission trip to serve the community with woodworking skills (building shelves, and so forth .

He arrived on Sept. 13th, 2024 ,Shared a picture of himself at the Uganda Equator with the biggest smile on his face. Saying "I Love You Mi Amour, It's beautiful here, you would love it".

On the 19th of Sept. I received a text message from his supervisor to call him, oh, how my heart drop, I knew this could not be good.
Mark had a catastrophic stroke in the Pontine area of the brain stem.
He is paralyzed from the neck down, non-communtative, he communicates with his eyes by looking up for Yes and No for down, also has a tracheotomy tube, feeding tube and a catheter. Mark did not arrive back to the States until September the 30th 2024. I met him at the airport and him for transport one of the best hospital in San Diego to receive the best care possible. He was released from the hospital on Oct 7th to a Long Care Facility where he continues to receive the care he needs. Recovery will be long but with SMCC, family and dear friends we are up for the challenge.

It was that point, when I realized the Long Term Care that he will required that I needed help from our community. Medical bills, Long
term care facility, housing bills and medical device called the Dynavox(it reads word for you if you focus long enough).

Mark is very alert and understands , and he a strong , loving man of God. Giving up is not in his nature, he will fight thru this struggle with the help of everyone that loves and care about him(and It MANY).
