I began my career as an entrepreneur, operating a beauty business, Face Love Cosmetic Artistry, where I soon began integrating my passion for youth and community into my business model. I decided to take my mentorship a step further and pursue formal certifications in evidence-based practices ranging from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to conflict resolution. Since then, I have lent these gifts in support of the Court Services & Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA), the office of DC Councilmembers, and other community-based organizations.
In recent years, I begun to gain notoriety by using her voice to serve as a leading advocate for parent and family support during and post-incarceration. Sharing my personal experience of post-incarceration family reunification, I share my experience as powerful advocacy through various means – podcasts, panel discussions, and even stage plays. At the end of the day, I take the most pride in being a loving mother of 3 and Tia’s honey (grandma).
I met Jasown Bivins at a baby shower in 2022. He was a little rough around the edges, but he loved my daughter, and she loved him too. She met Redd Dott a few days after his brother was tragically murdered. She wanted to help him heal. He became our family. His dad was incarcerated and was released a few months ago, which makes his son’s untimely death tragic. My daughter taught Jasown how to build his credit. He taught his dad, and he started the process while still incarcerated. They had plans to start a business and bond as a family. We are heartbroken.
We need your help to give Jasown a proper burial. My daughter is incarcerated, and her and his families' wish is to lay him to rest with dignity. We need $10,000 for the funeral and headstone. Any other funds will be used to support his recently released father's lost wages and costs associated with supporting the family during this difficult time. Please donate to a family mourning two sons and still feeling the effects of incarceration. Thank you.
