One week. One week has completely changed our lives.
Laura Brandi Austin went into the hospital Friday, August 1st and went to her heavenly home Friday, August 8th. We are still in complete disbelief and our hearts are absolutely shattered. Brandi always met you with the biggest, most beautiful smile, a warm hug and a long lasting “Hey!” She was happiest when her home was full and there was a warm meal that she just prepared for the people she loved.
This is not fair. It wasn’t supposed to end this way. The day before she passed we were given a strong potential diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer that metastasized to her brain. This caused a rare blood disease called aHUS. She passed away fighting with everything in her. To know Brandi was to love her. She was a mother, wife, grandma, sister, a best friend and much more.
Brandi was a proud member of the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, Paralyzed Veterans of America Fishing Circuit, and a board member of the Christopher Reeves Foundation.
As we navigate this incredibly difficult time, we are working to give her the memorial she deserves — one that honors her life and legacy. Unfortunately, the unexpected costs of the funeral and related expenses have created a financial strain on our family.
We are asking for help from our community, friends, and extended family to assist in covering these costs. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to us and would go directly toward funeral services, burial expenses, and related needs.
Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this heartbreaking time. We are so grateful for your kindness.
