Hello! Meet Honey. Honey is a 9-year-old rescue Pitbull with a love for all things sleeping, playing, and loving. Sadly, Honey now struggles with all the activities she once loved.

My brother and his girlfriend would never ask for help for their sweet Honey. However, I will. On August 4th, they left Honey in the care of their neighbors and friends over a weekend they would be going out of town. Unfortunately, Honey incurred a terrible accident after being brought to the neighbor's house and being taken off-leash instead of remaining in her own backyard as previously agreed upon. Honey fell from a balcony resulting in multiple emergency surgery-requiring injuries. While my brother and his girlfriend were over 1,000 miles away, they were being faced with amputation decisions. Honey shattered her right rear femur and fractured her front left metacarpal bone as a result of this awful accident. Surgery quickly revealed that there was no saving the rear leg, and an amputation decision was made in between canceled flights and rent-a-cars driving overnight to rush to Honey's side.

The first set of vet bills left them looking at a little over $4,900. This does not include all of the necessary equipment they have had to research and purchase as they navigate this new lifestyle. Regrettably, they found out Tuesday (9/3) morning that there was a missed hyperextension injury to Honey's front ankle in which she tore ligaments that provide crucial stability. This was a hard answer to Honey's failure to rebound over the last 3 weeks as she has struggled to get up and move around in ways that you might hope. She has yet to recover her appetite and continues to lose weight daily. She has been learning to walk again but remains unsuccessful and often frustrated. This is also another hard $4,500 anticipated bill.

They have experienced much support from tripod dog groups on Facebook, as well as through their veterinarian, however, nothing could have prepared them for the emotional and financial damage this has caused and will continue to cause.

They love Honey and would do anything to help her. This was a devastating accident for everyone involved. Please consider helping to alleviate some of their shared pain through donations of any amount, prayers, and testimonies of recovery.
