My Wife of 24 years and I have 4 children, a 22 year old son, 16 year old daughter, and 10 year old twins. We are the Mejia Family.

This story is about our oldest son Henry. Henry is loved by so many because of his heart of gold, big smile, beautiful personality, warm presence, and positive attitude. Henry has been an athlete all of his life. He mostly played soccer, which was his first love.

Most of his childhood was spent on soccer fields, playing club soccer. In middle school he also played flag football. In high school he was part of their Cross Country Team, and JV Boys Soccer Team. He graduated from high school in 2020 during Covid. No graduation, prom, or grand nite was given to this class.

We now come to the realization that he had always competed in these sports with a HUGE disadvantage... More about that later.

Sunday night (11/18/24) at 3am my wife and I heard a big bang in the restroom, where we found Henry (now 22 years old) having a seizure. We call 911 and he is rushed to the ER and after some blood work, CT scan, and an MRI they discover a brain tumor the size of a grapefruit.

My son played these sports for 16 years never having gone through puberty. His new doctor said Henry has most likely had this tumor somewhere around his adolescence, and that explains his lack of facial hair, soft voice, very low testosterone and other signs that prove puberty never matured. Signs that his primary doctor missed or ignored and we just thought he was a late bloomer.

Everyone has always confused him with being much younger than he really is, and that was never a red flag for us, but it is all starting to make sense now.

His peripheral vision has been affected by this massive brain tumor and because of that his drivers license has been revoked for the next 6 months and has no date to when and if he can return back to work. After the 6 month suspension of his license he will have to pass a series of tests to get it back.

There is a long road ahead of us, but we are optimistic and in good spirits Henry has a strong and supportive family and we will be here every step of the way. No donation is too small anything helps! Thank you for taking the time to read about his story.

With Love,
Mejia Family
