Donate to help Zainab Hamad and her family in Gaza

Hi, our names are Kate, Cristina and Nicola and we would like to introduce you to Zainab Hamad from Gaza, who we met through the Hands Up Project, a charity which connects children from around the world with children in Palestine, through theatre work in English.

Zainab has participated in the Hands Up Project since she was in primary school. Now 19, she had just started studying Engineering at university when the conflict began last October. Her home has been destroyed, and along with her family she is now living in the displacement camp in Rafah. Zainab spends her days with children in the camp teaching them English through drama and music, just as she did as a child.

There are thousands of families in Gaza, all innocent civilians who are in desperate need of help and support. We want to do everything possible to help at least one family. We have set up this fundraiser in the hope of spreading the word and getting some much needed financial support to Zainab and her family so that they can leave Gaza and find safety once more.

Now, over to Zainab herself.

Hi! I am Zainhab Hamad. Since I was young I was a student in Gaza and I was an excellent student, not only in my school but I was a pioneer in the theatrical work in English.

Since 2017 I have participated with Mr. Nick in the Hands Up Project, and my first theatrical work was 'Jbena' and it was a strong motivation for me to love English.

With a lot of support and diligence I succeeded in the secondary school and was ready to study at university and become a successful engineer. Then the war came and destroyed my dream and my life, our lives.

Now, I am in Gaza, living in difficult conditions i a displacement camp where the most basic human rights have been taken away. Such as a sense of secutity, secure housing, even drinking water.

despite this I spend my time teaching children the basics of theatre and English that I acquired from the Hands Up Project.

Everything has been demolished - my house, everything. Everything remains in the past and our hopes in Gaza have been shattered and we now have no source of money to leave Gaza.

I and my family hope that we will be supported to leave Gaza and maybe I can complete my education.

we are based in Barcelona, Spain.

I (Nicola) have been involved in English Language Teaching for over 20 years and have got to know Nick Bilborough through attending conference events about what the Hands Up Project does.

The money raised will go to Zainab Zaher Hamad who is currently living in the Gaza strip in a displacement camp in Rafa.
