Zach broke his wrist in an unexpected and flagrant accident while playing Basketball on Mother's Day - and unfortunately, he will need surgery to heal. In a New York minute, everything he had been cultivating and working towards was brought to a halt.
Last June, Zach got a chair at Empyre Barbershop and has been building a loyal clientele base since. His clients know that Zach gives one of the best cuts in Portland, and they look forward to the meaningful conversation he offers. He was finally coming into his own, and using that momentum to make strides both professionally and personally.
Zach tries to take life as it comes and not get too high or too low… “Fly Steady,” as his dad always told him. However, this broken arm now changes everything for him, especially as a barber. It's been a devastating hit for him mentally, physically, and now financially.
As an independent contractor, Zach did not have good medical coverage at the time of the accident. This means that the mountain of medical bills he faces from the ER visit, surgery, and follow-up appointments, coupled with a month and a half of not working is a debt that he will be working to pay off for years.
All Zach cares to do is get back to normal and to continue caring for his clients. They have proven their loyalty and respect for him as an individual and as a barber, and he wants to return the love as soon as possible.
People who know Zach know that he is an honest-to-a-fault, hard-working, and light-hearted person who constantly strives to do the right thing. They also know that Zach never asks for help!
He is massively grateful for the good wishes and kind words he has received through this time and even more appreciative of the donations.
Anything helps, and everything is appreciated.
