Donate to help with unexpected hospital stay
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Leah, I am Relin's sister, and I am organizing this fundraiser to help with their medical bills. Relin and Chris have always been hard workers, and both planned to work right up until the arrival of their baby girl. However, that quickly changed when Relin was diagnosed with preeclampsia, which led to a month-long hospital stay and an emergency c section to deliver their baby girl in a way that kept both mom and baby safe. Unfortunately, with the unexpected stay came income loss, and the company Relin works for is too small to offer paid maternity leave. I don't want them to worry about anything while spending time bonding as a family, as they are already navigating NICU life and spending all the time they can making sure their baby girl grows strong each day and can come home. Please donate and/or share this fundraiser so we can meet the goal and help them get through this new chapter in life.
In Relin's own words:
When they say your birth won't be anything like you imagine, they are right. For both good and unforeseen reasons. I spent 22 days in the hospital with severe preeclampsia before she was born via emergency c-section. I had planned to work up until a few weeks before my due date, rest up, do my nesting, and let my body do what it needed to do, and soon we would bring home our beautiful baby girl! Ready to enjoy the summer as new parents. However, at the beginning of May, I went in for a routine prenatal check-up and that all quickly changed when my blood pressure was in the critical zone, and I was quickly admitted into the hospital, and that's where I was to stay until she arrived. We talked with our medical team and were hoping to have her born at 34 weeks; however Thursday evening, the 19th, my blood pressure continuously stayed in the critical zone, and it was no longer safe to keep her inside. We decided to start labor and ended with an emergency c section Friday morning. She was born at 33 weeks and 3 days. Nothing prepares you for having to spend the last weeks of pregnancy away from your husband and home where you feel safe or having to leave the hospital without your baby, but I would do it all again for her. She is the biggest blessing I could have ever asked for. I can't thank my family, close friends, doctors, and nurses that have and continue to support, encourage and guide us through this journey. I couldn't have done it without you. Now we are on the path to healing, and everyday is one step closer to our family being home and safe.
