Hello, my name is Seabrook.

Recently, I had a terrible fall. My knee fractured in two places and my ankle tore (level 2 sprain). It was recommended by my doctor that it was unsafe for me to drive, stand for long periods, or walk large distances until my knee heals. Currently, my brace keeps me from bending my knee. My ankle is on a much longer path to recovery.

I’ve had about six weeks without pay so far. I am concerned about making my payments to my storage unit on time. It’s unclear if I will receive workman’s compensation, and even then it will be a significant reduction in my already low salary.

During the last two years, my rent for it has more than doubled. I left my belongings in there while I moved away with the understanding that the rent would be $80. It’s at $184 now.

Both my mother and grandmother have passed away and left me much more than I can handle at my current residence. One day I hope to have enough to buy a house or have a bigger apartment again. Until then, I’m keeping everything safe in my storage unit. Things like family photos, a potting bench my mother built, a metal plant shelf we cared for our kitchen herbs on, the rocking chair she nursed me in, the library of books the three of us collected over the years when we shared a home, the wicker chairs we shared countless evenings listening to the rain and finally getting to know each other, the Halloween and Christmas decorations we made together and collected on trips, a hand-carved nativity scene my Grandmother bought in Korea, and so much more. There are so many memories in there and I want to be able to share them with my future family.

If you can help, any amount, I would appreciate it. My mother and grandmother are all I had left. I am alone, in a very different city, and in need of help right now.

The $1500 I’ve set will tide me over until I hear back about my workman’s compensation. The peace of mind knowing my memories are safe for the next seven months would do wonders for my stress and recovery.
