Bring Isabelle Home

Hi, my name is Liz, and I'm fundraising to help cover the cost of medical care for my incredible 18-year-old daughter, Isabelle.

At the time I am starting this fundraiser, she is on Day 9 in the hospital with no answers about why she is sick. To make matters worse, the hospital is out-of state, 7 hours away from home and my support system. I am a mom who has been in the hospital with her kid, non-stop, for over a week, and the bills increase with every test, every treatment and every unanswered question.

Our story began when Isabelle tested positive for mono during spring break from her freshman year at UGA. But she wasn't getting any better. After going back and forth to urgent care, she ended up in the hospital with what they were calling pneumonia at the time. Her symptoms continued to get worse until she was moved to the PCU (progressive care unit) on Day 5 and the ICU (intensive care unit) on Day 6. 9 days later, she has tested negative for everything they have thrown at us, and the many cultures continue to present as negative. Doctors and nurses have focused on treating her symptoms (fever, rapid heart rate, fluid in her lungs, and more) and keeping her comfortable.

Finally, we were approved for a transfer back home to Georgia! We need to get closer to home to have better support, but the transfer cost is very high, on top of all of the other medical bills.

I am a single mom and public school teacher, and I am just trying to do what is best for my kid to make her comfortable as she fights to get well.
