Support Sarah and her family through final care

Written by Allison Carroll:
January 26th, 2023, at the age of 33, my sister-in-law Sarah Thody was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. She had also started a new job in December of 2022, following a 12-month maternity leave to care for her infant twins. Treatment started February 2023, and she's had to take a lot of time off work. Her fiancé's work has been slow since before her mat leave ended, and he had to turn down jobs throughout Sarah's treatment so he could pick up/care for her and the kids.
Asking for help is always difficult, but it's become necessary. This diagnosis has been so hard on our family!
Sarah's journey took a turn in November 2023, when she learned that her cancer has spread. This came as quite a shock because she was still receiving immunotherapy combined with radiation treatments. We are all devastated by this news. The twins, Mila and Liam, will be two in December, and Sarah wants to make the most of the time she has with them.
Sarah has continued to work full-time all throughout treatment, but she is now considering taking some time off to be with her family. For all who know Sarah, you know this was a tough decision for her, because she loves her work and after many years of dedication and study, landed her dream job. Until now, Sarah was treating this diagnosis like a hurdle to get over and move on from. With this new prognosis however, that plan no longer applies. Sarah needs -- and deserves -- to take better care of herself and focus on making beautiful memories with her loving family.
Thank you in advance for anything you can contribute to help this young family. Your donation will help them keep up with expenses like their mortgage, insurance, property taxes, childcare, prescriptions, fuel, utilities, groceries and most recently, alternative treatments not covered by OHIP/the province. If possible, the family would also like to take a trip to reconnect with relatives who have not yet met the twins, which would otherwise be impossible once Sarah loses her income. Sarah is also looking into ways to make her body as strong as possible because her fight is not yet over, and she needs all the help she can get to keep this cancer stable (or kill it off), for as long as possible.
There has been a public calendar set up, where Sarah and her family can book things they could use help with. If you would like to check it out, please send us a message, and a link to the calendar will be sent to you.
For those who would like to learn more about Sarah's journey, you can follow along on Instagram under @killerknockers.
Please please keep us all in your prayers.
Thank you!!
