Hi! I’m Kamille. I’m reaching out to your generous heart to help my sister with the expenses incurred during her recent major surgery. She underwent a Hysterectomy to completely remove her uterus which has four uterine fibroid tumors, the largest of which measures 14.7 x 11.7 x 16.4 cm.
Her name is Denisse. She is a sister, a daughter, and a nurse by profession.
Her nursing job has always been more than a profession to her. Even with almost 10 years of experience in her field, she still has an unwavering passion for helping patients in need. Through all those years, she has never asked for anything in return. Now, though unfortunate, it is her turn to receive such care and compassion from others and rely on strangers' kindness.
She has been facing a challenging health journey since March of 2024. She has been in and out of the hospital and seeing her doctor for her medical appointments. She has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids (Myoma), a condition that has brought challenges in her life. Her myomas impeded her quality of life and was forced to file a medical leave as she could not keep up with her duties as a nurse. Despite her condition, she remained steadfast in her will to get better. While she is determined to fight this battle, the burden of medical expenses is weighing heavy on her shoulders.
She was admitted to the hospital for 15 days because of complications in her kidney (Pyelonephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys). She was in pain and had a fever for a week in the hospital. Her doctors could not cure her fever despite all the antibiotics given to her. After a week in the hospital, her doctors suspected that her myoma might be the cause of her fever and they decided to operate to remove her uterus.
She underwent a hysterectomy that removed her uterus. During the seven-hour operation, she lost 3.6 liters of blood due to complications of her surgery. Her Myoma did not look so good, so her ob-gyne called an oncologist to help with the operation. It was also found out that her ureter was damaged from the pressure of her growing myomas, the ureter had also stuck to other organs hence the need for repair. Her ob-gyne called a urologist to help operate on her. A general surgeon was also in attendance to remove adhesions from her bowel (enterolysis), because her organs, mainly the bowel and ureter had begun to stick to each other.
During the operation, her uterus was removed; a stent was put in her ureter to connect her kidney to her bladder; and 4 bags of blood were administered to help keep her alive. In total, 11 units of blood were given throughout her stay in the hospital.
Denisse is now recovering from her operation. Unfortunately, her biopsy result came back positive. She is diagnosed with Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma, Stage III, a rare form of malignancy that affects only 2-5% of patients with uterine cancer.
She deserves the chance to focus on her health without the worry of how to afford the financial cost of her medical care.
Her hospital expenses were covered by the hospital because of her employee benefit. But she needs to pay her doctors' professional fees that total of PHP 346,000/ CAD 8,050 / USD 5,900.
Every contribution to this fundraiser, no matter the size will make a significant difference in her journey to recovery. Denisse will have the peace of mind to concentrate on her health and recovery.
Your generosity will help ease the financial burden on her and her loved ones.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support!
*As of today (June 25, 2024), Denisse is recovering from her Hysterectomy surgery and will be starting her chemotherapy session in the next few weeks.
