Hello all, this is a small fundraiser to help with my father's final expenses. Things were a little tough and I had to pay for a cremation that I could not afford. We are asking just for a little help so we can break even. If there are any donations that somehow exceed what we are looking for, we will happily donate to the ALS Association and to my grandfather who was living with my father when he passed. Grandpa is a U.S. Air Force veteran who also could really use some help after losing his second son.
For a quick backstory, my father was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) which is a fatal disease that runs in my family back in 2016. It is a degenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that eventually leads to reduced muscle functionality (until they no longer function at all). At the time, he and I were living together. He moved to Kentucky to stay with my grandpa in 2020 while I moved to Colorado for graduate school. The plan was that eventually, he would move back near me and I would help him with his end of life.
Unfortunately, that did not happen when in January he was admitted to the hospital. I knew it was bad, but I didn't know I was going to lose him so suddenly. He passed away in February due to multiple organ failures less than an hour after I made it to the hospital to see him.
My dad was a wonderful person who has lived all over the country touching lives. He was known for his wild sense of humor and was a father figure to many. He would give his last dollar to a friend in need. Let's us not forget that he was also a badass cook.
Please help if you can, I know he would appreciate the love and support you all have given.
