My name is Lindsey, and I've created this GoFundMe to help my friend Brooke and her family given her current circumstances. Brooke was emitted to the hospital on August 15th for Diverticulitis with an abscess which then led sepsis (blood poisoning). Not only that, they found a mass in her pelvic area which fortunately was benign but none the less painful. For these medical conditions she was hospitalized for almost a month. Since then, she has been in and out of the hospital due to draining of hematomas, chronic pain and numbness in her left leg.
After 24 days in the ICU, 5 units of blood, 3 drains, 2 wound vacs, and 25 staples she is at home recovering, but her doctors still have a drain in her abdomen for infection which needs to be monitored. Her body has been through so much and is weak and she's loosing hair as well due to all the medication and stress.
Watching my friend go through this the last couple of months has been difficult yet shes such a fighter she wont stop pushing through. Its admirable the strength this woman has!! Given these circumstances this has left her and her family with a financial hardship with day to day bills, medical expenses etc. Brooke and her family have always been there to lend a helping hand and to see her go through this is heartbreaking as she always says "I'm fine" when I know she's not wanting to burden anyone with her situation. I am hoping this will alleviate some stress for her and her family. Any donation is much appreciated and will go straight to her ❤
Here is an update from Brooke:
Update:
I'm in the ICU with very low blood pressure and my WBCs are elevated. Got a CT Scan yesterday in the ER where they saw something abnormal. I was sent to the ICU because my blood pressure was 80/43.
Another CT scan was done with contrast to see where the infection is. They are thinking that my abscess traveled to my rectum.
We are waiting for those results and for my blood pressure to get out of the danger zone.
I'll keep you posted once I know.
