As many of you will remember Winston or “Jeff” as he was always called, was a 20+ year employee of the Atlantic Beach Club and the St. Andrews Club in Delray beach. He also worked many years in Cape Cod for a number of establishments. He is fondly remembered for always knowing your drink and most likely your audit number.

Jeff would work winters in Florida and then spring, summer, and early Fall at ABC. In working at the two clubs, he was able to support himself and maintain a condo in Florida and a car. Over the past few years Jeff has been unable to work due to medical issues and COVID. Also, the fact that he will be turning 80 in January has slowed him down. In 2019 when COVID hit Jeff found himself unemployed and draining savings on his home. He sold the condo paid all debts and moved to a smaller apartment close to friends. This was great except he has been supplementing his social security with the proceeds from the sale of the home.

With COVID having a tremendous impact on real estate values in Florida Jeff is now faced with a doubling of his rent and the prospect of being homeless in a few months.

Jeff has not worked in the past few years because of medical issues. He has been hospitalized three times for heart problems, breathing issues and wounds that won’t heal. He has visiting nurses who care for him and friends and neighbors who provide him with necessary transportation. Currently, he is also getting ready to start dialysis for his failing kidneys. Jeff is months away from being homeless due to many ongoing illnesses, it is with your help he can avoid being a ward of the state.

Jeff remains upbeat and optimistic, but it is getting tough. He has applied for low-income housing, but the list is long. His apartment is being sold and he may be forced to leave.

We are trying to raise 24,000 for Jeff. We feel that should be enough to sustain him for 2 years. This should be enough time to get him into housing he can afford.
