Williams Ilunga needs your help to live.
Williams was rushed to the hospital at 3.5 weeks old because he was unable to feed or breathe properly. By the time he got to the emergency room, Williams was in shock. Doctors were able to stabilize him and treat him for an infection, but he continued to struggle to breathe. Over the course of a week, investigations led the hospital to conclude Williams has congenital heart disease and needs heart surgery urgently. What’s more, the surgery he needs cannot be done here in Kenya, so Williams will have to go to India.
Williams’ parents are Happy and Isaac Ilunga, a young Congolese couple who have left their home in the Democratic Republic of Congo in order to seek theological training. After training, they plan to return to Congo to plant churches and start a school of theology. Isaac is currently in a residency program at a local church, where he is completing seminary-level classes while receiving mentoring and ministry experience.
As you can imagine, Williams’ illness and diagnosis are a huge trial for Isaac and Happy. They are trusting God, and their church family is rallying around them. They know that God can provide, but they have nowhere near even a fraction of the funds to pay for travel, surgery, and recovery in India.
This is why we are asking for your help. When you donate, your money will go to cover the expenses for Williams’ medical and travel expenses for Williams and his parents. Williams has been diagnosed with Tetrology of Fallot with the complication of Absent Pulmonary Valve. He will require other heart surgeries as he grows for the Tetrology of Fallot, but he urgently needs to have his valve corrected so his lungs can function properly.
Mike and Becky Christ are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Isaac and Happy. Mike and Becky are members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Nairobi and Mike teaches theology in the church’s Residency program, training African theologians. Isaac is one of Mike’s students. The fundraiser is also being coordinated by Matt and Kim Christ, who are facilitating the collection funds and will transfer the money internationally.
Our goal is to raise $26,000 for the Ilunga family. The cardiologist has recommended that the surgery happen immediately, so we hope to meet the above amount in the next one to two weeks. Any amount you can give will help!
