Hi All, my husband Michael and I (some of you may know him as Mike, your local Mendocino UPS driver) have set up this fundraiser in hopes of some additional support for us and our son. He was born at 32 weeks and we were told on night one that he might not make it. After many tests and terrified nights we found out that he has type 1 congenital myotonic dystrophy, a rare genetic and neuro-muscular disease. He was born in February and has been in the NICU and on a ventilator for the last five+ months since birth and we still do not have a planned discharge date. Because of the services and medical equipment that he will need, we are being required to relocate from our home, where we have lived for the last 8 years. As we try to navigate this new world as a new family with our beautiful boy and give him the very best life that we can manage, we are humbly asking for your generosity in donating. This is such an emotional and uncertain time for us, any assistance to lessen the worry about our financial situation would help us to be even more focused and present for our special boy.
