On Sunday, June 30, Brandt Whatley was in a tragic ATV accident. His son, Boaz, was on the machine with him as it flipped backwards. Brandt bravely protected Boaz as the handlebars went through the opening in his own helmet and crushed most of the bones in his face. Brandt was taken to Ottawa by medevac with Lanie and is currently in stable condition in the ICU.
The recovery process is still uncertain, but we know he will be facing multiple surgeries over the next few weeks. The family will be facing many expenses during Brandt’s recovery, including food and accommodation near the hospital. Since the Whatley children are still in Iqaluit, they’ll also need to pay for flights between Iqaluit and Ottawa, which can be extremely expensive (close to $2,000 for a one-way ticket). And flights to return home eventually too.
Any donations will go directly to Lanie-Joy Whatley, who is the beneficiary of this account.
