Help Keep Wendy's Cat Jax Healthy and By Her Side

Hello! My name is Carrie Mackevich, and together with my husband Max Schapiro and his sister Kyra, we are hoping to raise money for my mother-in-law, Wendy Schapiro, to help cover the medical expenses for her beloved cat Jax.

Wendy is a middle and high school teacher and dedicated life-long cat mom in Palm Desert, CA. After the sudden and heartbreaking passing of her dearest fuzzy feline Tony a few years back, Wendy was lucky enough to happen upon and subsequently adopt Jax, who quickly filled the orange kitty-sized hole in her heart.

Unfortunately, this last Tuesday Jax began exhibiting abnormal behavior and seemed ill - a necessary trip to the kitty emergency room revealed an underlying kidney issue, which can be pretty dangerous and costly to deal with. Along with an $1,800 bill for the ER visit, Wendy will need to procure $50 medication for him every three weeks for the foreseeable future, and will likely need to pay for future veterinary visits and expenses to try and get Jax's condition under control.

Because this country doesn't value educators as much as it should, Wendy's teaching salary is hardly enough to comfortably cover this unexpected blow, and she has dealt with more than enough heartbreak in the cat department. Understandably, she desperately wants to do what she can to keep Jax by her side as long as possible.

In that vein, we, her children, are hoping to raise $2,200 to cover known and potentially unknown costs - if she can spend all these years taking care of us, the least we can do is help take care of her and her dear kitty.
