Hi, my name is Charlie Hernandez, and I'm here to share my story about my father, Jose Guadalupe Valenzuela. He was born on January 2nd, 1975. He died at 48 years young. He was known by his community as their gardener, he was a good, hardworking man who had a big heart. He was a son, a father, and an uncle, he was an amazing neighbor to his community.

My father and two others were shot Tuesday, July 18th, 2 were critically injured and unfortunately, my dad was pronounced deceased on the scene suffering a gunshot wound to his chest. He was hanging out at the same place he has for the last fifteen years with his same friends and coworkers. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time and in an instant, his life was ended by a single bullet. He worked to take care of his family, especially his mother, my grandmother, as her sole caregiver while working twelve to fourteen-hour work days.

My family and I are very devastated by the sudden loss of my dad and unfortunately were not prepared for the funeral expenses. We want to honor his memory and be able to say our last goodbyes. We ask for any donation, big or small, anything helps. Any donations will go towards all funeral costs. Thank you so much for all your support, my family and I appreciate it.

Hola, mi nombre es Charlie Hernández y estoy aquí para compartir mi historia sobre mi padre, José Guadalupe Valenzuela. Nació el 2 de enero de 1975. Murió joven a los 48 años. Era conocido por su comunidad como su jardinero, era un hombre bueno, trabajador y de gran corazón. Era un hijo, un tío y un vecino increíble para su comunidad.

Mi padre y otros dos recibieron disparos el martes 18 de julio, 2 resultaron gravemente heridos y, lamentablemente, mi padre fue declarado muerto en el lugar con varias heridas de bala. Pasaba el rato en el mismo lugar que ha tenido durante los últimos quince años con sus mismos amigos y compañeros de trabajo. Estaba en el lugar equivocado en el momento equivocado y, en un instante, una sola bala acabó con su vida. Trabajó para cuidar a su familia, especialmente a su madre, mi abuela, como su única cuidadora mientras trabajaba jornadas laborales de doce a catorce horas.

Mi familia y yo estamos muy devastados por la repentina pérdida de mi papá y lamentablemente no estábamos preparados para los gastos del funeral.
