I need your help once again to help me make my newest film, "Water Girl".

I recently got a $18, 0000 grant towards this project and I need your help to complete my budget in order to make this film.

TITLE: Water Girl

GENRE: Drama/Horror/Suspense

LOCATION: Helena, Montana.

LOG-LINE: Kamsi is connected to the water. Neither she nor her mother, Nkechi, knows how. But the water is trying to tell them both.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Water Girl is a film about a Nigerian woman living in Helena Montana and her journey to discovering her daughter’s mystic identity. Her daughter is revealed to be an Ọgbanje. "Ọgbanje" in Igbo terminology simply means a child spirit who comes and goes. Typically born and is reborn to the same family severally. Kamsi (the girl) is an Ọgbanje who is connected to the water but doesn't know how, and neither does her mother Nkechi. But the water is trying to communicate with them both. Nkechi on the other hand is willing to do anything to save her only child.

This project is a homage to old Nollywood stories and history (the reason I decided to become a filmmaker), honoring their legacy and at the same time fostering new opportunities to bridge the gap between the African diaspora with authentic Afrocentric narratives. This film also aims at bringing Igbo traditional belief systems to the forefront of international conversations regarding the celebration and understanding of authentic African culture.

This is a story of love, culture and the depths a mother will go through to protect her child.

I got an $18,000 grant towards this film and I need $15,000 more. The cinematic vision for this film is expensive and we'll need all we can get to see this to fruition. The money will go towards production and post production needs.
