Donate to help us make NICU scent hearts and NICU IV gowns
Donation protected
We are a small group of volunteers who make items for children’s hospitals in Perth. We are unfunded and use our own money to buy supplies to make the necessary items. Hospitals are asking for more and more items from us and we would love some support as the costs are becoming too high for us to keep up with the demand.
We make:
- Pairs of NICU scent hearts for babies in incubators. The babies cannot be held so one heart goes in the crib with the baby and the other heart is worn on the skin by the mother. After 24 hours the hearts are swapped do each has the others scent. Such a simple idea with great benefits for both mum and Bub. Both stress less and it can aid lactation in the mother.
- NICU IV gowns. Usually babies in incubators wear nothing but a nappy because of all the tubes needed for them. The gowns we make allow free access for tubes.
- Small tote bags for the Play, Leisure and Engagement -program (P.LA.E.) At PCH ( Perth Children’s Hospital.)
- Large tote bags and toiletry bags for parents and carers who suddenly find themselves having to stay in hospital; unexpectedly.
- Wraps and blankets
- Quilted isolate covers.
- Black and white felt “books” for the OT dept to help cognitive development in babies.
All cost money to make, but we love doing it and would love your support so we can make more items.
All funds raised will go towards purchasing fabric and other materials to make the items hospitals request.
Thank you for your consideration of our project.
