A neighbors gas stove exploded last night and sadly two people lost their lives. The fire quickly spread and the Relativo family home was totally destroyed. They lost everything they had in the world. The family has gone through so much in recent times and this now is beyond heartbreaking. I know everyone is doing it tough these days but if you could help just a little it will be greatly appreciated.
It is best I let Emman tell the heartbreaking story himself.
I have been struggling deeply, trying to understand how to keep moving forward when everything feels unbearably heavy and uncertain. There are moments when I no longer know where to begin or how to carry the weight of everything that has happened.
I have faced floods and emergencies, taken responsibility for managing my family’s medical concerns, and experienced the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one in my arms while performing CPR. That moment never leaves me. Alongside this, I have been battling depression and mental health issues, financial hardship, and physical exhaustion, each day.
And then, as if all of this was not enough, everything else was taken from us.
In the middle of the night, while we were resting, a blazing fire engulfed our home. The fire spread with terrifying speed and force. We survived that fire. By God’s grace, we woke up in time and escaped with our lives. In just a few moments, everything we owned was consumed by the flames.
All our documents, credentials, and records were lost. Medals earned through service, uniforms from organizations and the military, memorabilia, and keepsakes, symbols of years of dedication, identity, and sacrifice, were reduced to ashes. Along with them went memories that can never be replaced, reminders of where I came from and what I have given in service to others.
Standing there, watching the fire take everything, I felt an overwhelming sense of emptiness and disbelief. It felt as though every hardship I had endured before had led to this single moment of total loss.
Yet even in that devastation, I hold on to one undeniable truth, we are alive. We survived the fire. Despite the speed, intensity, and danger of the blaze, our lives were spared. That alone is a blessing I do not take lightly.
I do not fully understand why these trials continue to come, or why the burden feels so heavy at times. There are days when I feel lost, exhausted, and unsure of how to begin again. I question my strength, my purpose, and my ability to keep going.
But through all of this, one thing remains clear to me. I have been answering the calling You placed in my heart, to serve. Even when I am broken, even when I have lost everything tangible, that calling has not been taken from me. My faith, my values, and my commitment to serve others still remain.
And so, even in loss, grief, and uncertainty, I choose to keep going, holding on to purpose, trusting that there is meaning beyond what I can see, and believing that from these ashes, something new will one day rise.
