My uncle, Chris Kays, was recently diagnosed with cancer after a screening colonoscopy. While we were hopeful it could be easily removed with a simple outpatient procedure, the CT scan showed that would not be the case as it has metastasized to his lymph nodes. This diagnosis now requires weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments before surgery can happen.
Chris is a hard worker and does everything he can to support his family. Unfortunately, his wife, Emily, has not been able to work for quite some time due to her debilitating illnesses, one of which is terminal. He has three grown daughters and five grandchildren, all of whom he loves very much. He loves to sing, play guitar and work on cars with his dad and grandson. He also loves to spend time with Emily and their family.
We hope to raise enough funds to help alleviate the financial stress of everyday life over the next several months while Chris receives the necessary chemo and radiation treatments. During these treatments, Chris will not be able to work, which leaves them unable to pay their mortgage, utilities, groceries or any out-of-pocket medical expenses. Therefore, all funds donated will be used to pay to keep a roof over their heads, utilities paid and food on the table. Donated funds will also help the family get back and forth to treatments and pay for medical expenses that insurance does not cover.
