Last October, the Coopers (Bernard, Randee, and big sister Nora) became a family of 4 with the arrival of baby Jordyn. When Jordyn was 5 months old, she was diagnosed with septo optic dysplasia, which is a rare disorder of early brain development. In September of this year, Jordyn was diagnosed with retinoblastoma (RB), which is cancer in her eye. On October 13th, Jordyn received her first chemotherapy treatment. This new type of chemotherapy specifically treats the cancer by delivering the chemo directly to the tumour in her eye instead of dispersing it throughout her whole body. These treatments take place at Sick Kids in Toronto.

The process is a 12 hour hospital stay for Jordyn as an outpatient. The family is required to spend the night in Toronto after each treatment so that she is close to the hospital in care there are any complications. Jordyn will require additional treatments as well as regular follow up appointments with the doctors at Sick Kids. She will also need several laser therapy treatments after the chemo is complete.

We (Joanne and Melissa, Randee's friends/coworkers) have started this Go Fund Me to help support the Coopers in covering the costs of travelling between Welland and Toronto on a regular basis, paying for hospital parking, and overnight stays at a hotel.
