Hi, my name is Bianca and I'm fundraising for my coworker and friend Alyssia and her family.

Over the past several months, Alyssia has faced more than most of us can imagine. Since her husband’s cancer diagnosis, she’s carried the weight of being both mom and dad while holding onto her strength, faith, and hope every single day. Despite everything, she continues to show up for her children with courage and love. Right now, she needs support to cover urgent moving costs, bills, and everyday expenses so she can keep her family stable during this incredibly difficult time. Any help means more than words can express.

A message from Isiah's daughter:

In 2025, my father, Isiah (George) Carter, was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer that has required him to be hospitalized since September of 2025, with an uncertain prognosis. Since then, our days have consisted of many emotions, various hospital procedures, changes in medication, and the relentless rollercoaster that can be the healthcare system.

Isiah Carter is the soul of our family; he cares for me, my brother, and our mother while simultaneously working several jobs. He is one of the most compassionate people I have ever known and his life has been a testament to his strength and love of being there for others.

Isiah is a man known for taking care of others, and now, he relies on the generosity of that same community.

It was a hard decision to ask for assistance, but financially and emotionally, our family is overly exhausted, and the situation has been on this steady decline for months. The story is included at the bottom if you would like more information on his medical situation.

Any donations made will go towards covering the costs that are not covered by insurance, plus lessening the stress on our family by helping to close some of the financial gaps created from my dads' inability to work. In addition, due to our inability to remain at our current rental property, we will have to be moved out by March 1st, 2026. This fund will also be used to cover moving costs and any expenses involved to ensure that we can remain closer to Isiah during this time.

Every cent can help, and spreading the message to others will be appreciated.

Thank you very much for reading this message. Just listening to our story has made a bigger difference than you may realize.

Sincerely,

Akaiah Carter-Sam

Medical journey to date below :

In March of 2025, Isiah attempted to seek treatment for abnormal sores but was disregarded (and ultimately misdiagnosed) by several medical professionals and hospitals. That summer, he took a leave of absence from his job on account of his worsening condition and was finally diagnosed with Stage 3 Lymphoma in mid August. This all came to a point in September, when he was rushed to urgent care with a very high fever and underwent several risky surgeries to handle a life-threatening infection.

Shortly thereafter, we learned that Isiah actually had Stage 4 of a rare blood cancer known as Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma. His first round of the chemo-like treatment for this cancer was completed in early October while recovering from the prior surgeries. The cure required for this type of cancer can only be achieved via a stem cell transplant, for which we needed to locate a match. While we were able to locate a match early in the process, the transplant requires him to be 125% healthy.

On Oct 24th, he was discharged to a rehab facility in hopes of gaining that strength to not only continue the chemo-like treatment but also in hopes of getting him home to continue building strength for the transplant. We had hoped that this was the positive change we had sought for months prior; unfortunately, it seemed to be only the beginning.

On Oct 31st, he was readmitted to the hospital again with 6 new infections that were due to his immunocompromised skin caused by the cancer.

In November, he was admitted to a more specialized ward but continued to battle fevers. He was then placed on a 24-hour drip of antibiotics to help solve infections before they became an issue.

In December, after battling multiple infections and having several spinal strokes, we were told that Isiah required an open-heart procedure to replace an infected valve. Before the surgery could take place, our family received a call at 2 am on Christmas Day stating that he had gone into septic shock and was moved to the Cardio-Vascular ICU.

Until the start of February, he was heavily sedated and, therefore, unable to receive the transplant or continue chemo until he regains enough strength. He currently stands with an uncertain guarded prognosis that leaves our family in a state of constant vigilance. We continue to hold faith in Isiah’s recovery and in the belief that everything will work the way it is meant to.
