Hi, my name is Dustin, I am Max’s Uncle and this go fund me has been organized for the Bilanski family (Ryan, Ashley, Jack & Max).

In early December their youngest son, Max, was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors, with one being on his brain stem. Max’s symptoms started in September 2022 and persisted into 2023. Max has had many sick days and attended multiple appointments trying to find the cause of his daily vomiting. It has been difficult finding the proper care, which has been weighing on their family for quite some time. It wasn’t until they got into Pediatrics Neurology in October 2023 and had a CT in November that they started getting some answers. Continuing to push for more definitive results, Max got an MRI early December to confirm that the lesions found on the CT were brain tumours. These were not the results Ashley and Ryan were hoping for - however, they are relieved to finally have answers for what has been causing Max’s illness and have begun to move forward with the Oncology and Neurosurgery team at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. Max is scheduled for brain surgery on December 20, 2023 at the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital. They will be debulking the larger tumour to try provide some relief of symptoms to Max and send it away to the lab for pathology in order to determine a diagnosis and provide proper treatment. This sudden news has greatly impacted the Bilanski household just prior to Christmas - causing Ryan and Ashley to take time off work to be with their son to get a diagnosis, during his surgery, recovery, and treatment in the months to come. With Ashley being self-employed and not receiving any sick or paid leave, the potential financial burden may be huge. They have had many doctor appointments since September 2023 and the time away from work has already been impactful, which will continue with many more appointments to come in the New Year. Max has been in good spirits and hopefully this go fund me will allow his parents to continue to take the much needed time off work to support Max and their family during these uncertain times.

Some people have reached out and have been asking to donate to help support the Bilanski’s. Any donation will help relieve some financial stress in the months to come so that all the focus can be on Max’s recovery.
