Hi, my name is Makaila Bevil (nickname Elevyn) and I am starting a GoFundMe for my family, Dasan, Noah, and Rebecca Bevil. On Thursday, August 24th, Noah underwent a brain surgery which was extremely complicated but detrimental to his quality of life. Noah was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation on his brain where his brain tonsils were so far extended that they would swell and not shrink back, causing a cutoff in spinal fluid to his brain. Noah has spent the last 3 years in excruciating pain. While this was enough to bring the whole family together to ensure a speedy and safe recovery as he is off his heart meds. It didn’t stop there. That Tuesday, Rebecca’s body started to go completely numb on her right side starting with her toes up her leg. Wednesday she attempted to work numb, as the family desperately relies on her paycheck for housing security…she had a moment where she collapsed. She rested, and went straight back to working. By Thursday, the entire right side of her body was completely numb. While Noah was at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, TX undergoing his surgery, Rebecca went to check herself into the ER. They determined she had a stroke and admitted her to the hospital immediately. She was in the hospital for 3 days where it was discovered the stroke was responsible for numbing the whole right side of her body, and the collapsing at work was a Mini Stroke right after. Rebecca’s stroke happened in her sleep Monday night. Since being discharged from the hospital, Rebecca now cannot walk or maneuver without using a cane. Which makes going back to work impossible. She has since received the word from her primary doctor to be out of work for 6 weeks as she needs physical and occupational therapy in home, work conditioning, and must see a nuerologist to determine how to prevent the strokes from reoccurring long term. Rebecca works for a smaller company, and qualifies for short term disability which will only cover 60% of her pay while she is out. This puts the families finances in an extremely tight position. Rebecca needs to heal. For so long she has put herself last, but she will continue to put herself last if they cannot adequately provide for the family. Once Rebecca returns to work, they will also be collecting double her insurance payments by garnishing it from her check as the company will be paying her insurance payment while she is not at work and will recoup it upon return, which puts them in a vulnerable position for even longer than the period she is out of work.

I have opened this fund in hopes that we can together offset what the family is missing with Rebecca being out of work, and allow her to heal as she needs to and feel comfortable enough to do it. She needs this medical care, or it will get worse. Noah gets released from the Hospital early September, and she will be his primary caregiver on top of it all as well. The tension and stress and worry is pushing the family apart. As you can imagine, Dasan is also beating himself up because he can’t provide more for his wife to provide less. That’s where I’m hoping this funding will help.
