As most of you know, I travelled to Africa this last August and got the opportunity to meet some incredible human beings trying to bring about real change to their community!
The first individual is Labour, an Ugandan born man who was abandoned by both parents and moved through 6 homes as a child. A kind stranger helped him return to school, earn a bachelors degree, and then he started Bwindi Children’s Empowerment Charity to offer the same hope and opportunity he received. He houses 25 kids and has over 80 children in his care where he provides food, shelter, clothing, school supplies and so much more.
The second individual is Deborah, a registered nurse who volunteers after work to provide medical care to the kids and the entire community. She spends almost every day at the “Pharmacy”, providing check ups, routine care, and handing out medication and other medical supplies. She also makes house calls when members of her community or children are too sick to travel. She is in desperate need of certain medications, supplies, and funds to purchase basic necessities to help her community.
I left Uganda with an absolute ache in my heart, and a desire to return one day to help provide a bigger impact. But for now, I am starting a GoFundMe to hopefully send some money to Labour and Deborah to purchase food, clothing, medications, supplies, and whatever else is necessary to support these young kids going into the holidays.
If you feel pulled to help support these two incredible human beings and the kids they support, here is the link for the GoFundMe. And if you have any questions, please ask! I love talking about our incredible time there ❤️
