Worthing Baptist Church Project Solar: Powering Our Future.
Worthing Baptist Church is a growing, inclusive church. We take pride in offering a place where everyone can feel at home, no matter who they are. We’re not better than other churches—we’re simply different, with some distinctives that make us who we are. These differences create a welcoming space for everyone, especially those who are seeking a church that is one of the only openly affirming communities for individuals who are LGBTQ+.
We are excited to launch Project Solar, a fundraising campaign to raise £60,000 to replace the roof on our church’s south-facing side and install solar panels. This section of the roof urgently needs replacement and is perfectly positioned to harness solar energy.
Our solar panels will be integrated directly into the roof, replacing roof tiles. This sleek, seamless approach enhances the roof’s efficiency and durability, providing a sustainable, long-term solution. It will also help reduce our fuel bills, giving us an estimated annual saving of £2,500 and a lifetime saving of £125,171!
This project is not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly, as it helps reduce our carbon footprint and promotes the use of renewable energy.
While we are applying for grants to help with some of the costs, these funds are not guaranteed. We’re aiming to raise £60,000 through this campaign. If we exceed our goal, any extra will go towards repairing or replacing other parts of our roof at some stage.
