Hi, my name is Niki Porter and I am starting this fundraiser in hopes of raising enough money to help my sister, Elizabeth Porter, make ends meet throughout her cancer treatment. Elizabeth was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer and must undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy for the next few months. During this time she will be unable to work due to her daily appts as well as not feeling well enough to cover her shifts. Thankfully we are employed at our family business, antique store, Junk and Disorderly, so she is not at risk of losing her position there. Although, her ability to maintain bills, rent, medications, and groceries for her, and her two daughters is somewhat of a concern. I am starting this fundraiser to do my best to allow her the most comfortable and stress free environment to aid in a successful treatment period as well as a full recovery. Liz is one of the hardest working, goal driven, and helpful people I have and will ever know. She is an amazing mother to her 10 and 15 year old daughters, Violet and Lily, whom she raises on her own. My sister, single handedly, maintains a beautiful home for her children and provides them the best life a single parent in todays world could possibly give. In fact, I believe she is exceptional at doing this and more often than not, amazes me with her outstanding ability. For this reason, I want to make sure she doesn’t have to spend a minute worrying about losing anything she has worked so hard to obtain for herself and the girls. This tragic news has left us quite devastated and feeling a bit lost. She continues to stand tall though, and puts a smile on her face the best she can and always in front of her children. Now a few weeks into learning of her diagnosis, she has found it within herself the strength to use all her energy into not only getting necessary tasks handled, but also to keeping a positive outlook. We laugh a lot and do our best to turn this into something we can joke about amongst ourselves, which we feel is much more productive than spending time focusing on all the not so positive facts involved in this whole situation. My sister is such a great person and I hope anyone who has the means can help me to provide her and her daughters everything they need while she is bravely going through the most difficult process she has yet to face in the 37 years of her life.
