Hi, friends. I’m Lily Tomlinson, and I’m lucky enough to call Courtney Victoria Goulet my childhood best friend. If you’re reading this, chances are she’s been a best friend to you, too—or you’re blessed by blood to call her family. Either way, I know we all love her so much because Court is one of those rare breeds who always picks up the phone, shows up when you need her most, and consistently demonstrates what loyalty really means.
But today we are being called to pick up the torch and continue that legacy by showing up for her at a time when she needs it most. It’s our turn to demonstrate our love and loyalty in the same way it has been given to us by her. We have this amazing opportunity, because Courtney has had the courage and fortitude to add recovery and healing to her countless achievements. She has made the hard but incredibly commendable decision to dive into herself, fix what’s hurting, and begin living a life that doesn’t need to be escaped through alcohol or drugs.
However, this decision isn’t without its own sacrifices. Courtney moved from her hometown to Arizona, packing up her salon studio and her home and finding herself in the desert 48 hours later. She took only what could fit in the car, leaving everything else behind. Most importantly, she sacrificed an incredible business and clientele that had taken years of hustle and grind to build, because she was not only brave enough to become an entrepreneur, but brave enough to start over. This sacrifice means she’s living on financial reserves—reserves that are fading fast. Next month, and the months thereafter, Courtney will have approximately $900 in recurring expenses (bills only, as her housing and food are covered) without a source of income. In the most conservative scenario, this means she will need about $3,000 to stay current while she completes treatment. It will also take some time to start earning money once she is back in the workforce, too.
So what does this all mean? Well fam, it means that it’s our turn to take action and show her our unconditional love and support by filling her with kind words (send a letter!), and hopefully, a donation that will help ease this huge transition. As you know with these things, anything—like anything—helps. It helps to keep the focus on the healing, and the hard work it takes, rather than the stresses of everyday life. Rest assured, they’ll still be there on the other side, but for now, let’s help quiet the distractions and help the healing.
