Hi there, my name is Mandie and I’m unfortunately fundraising for my dad, Steve, and younger sister, Stephanie. A few nights ago they were in a horrible accident, which has devastatingly left my dad paralyzed from the waist down. He also suffers from collapsed lungs, broken ribs, broken shoulder, a damaged spleen and damaged kidney. He was on life support support and has undergone surgery to stabilize his spine. He remains stable and will continue to need surgeries to fix all the doctors can. My sweet sister is safe, but rocked to her core. She will be seeking therapy and all that we can to help process this traumatic event. My dad is the ultimate fighter and if anyone can pull through this, it’s him. His Marine Corps spirit has always reminded us to “improvise, adapt, & overcome”, and I believe he will do just that. This is just the beginning of a very long journey and we are taking all the steps we can to prepare for it. We currently all live in different areas of the country and travel expenses are already adding up quickly. As are medical expenses and all that comes with preparing for this new way of life. (Care, accessibility changes to his house, etc. etc.) He lives alone and will need all the help he can get adapting to this change. Any support would mean the world. Whether that’s through prayer or a donation, we are extremely grateful for it all. We are already overwhelmed with the amount of love and support surrounding him and feel beyond thankful for his community.
