Sid was found by luck as fate would have it; he along with his siblings were heard meowing nearby one late night. Found were four, 5-week old kittens abandoned in a knocked-over cardboard box labeled "free". My sister & her husband quickly swooped them up and brought them inside to assess, care for, and comfort them. They observed that one of the kittens was much smaller than the rest, and the other kittens were not only ignoring him but wouldn't let him eat either, they had to intervene. They noticed he would purr whenever they got near to him, and that is how the runt, soon to be named Sid Vicious for his spikey black fur, became part of the family.

Since then he's grown splendidly into his name by way of tooth and claw...naturally. However, recently his rambunctious conduct got him into big trouble; last Friday night he started vomiting and was rushed to the vet emergency. After some tests, they found he had an intestinal obstruction; it seems he'd swallowed something square which had lodged itself in his guts and costs $10, 600 to remove from this little furry friend.

The good and the bad:

The bad is that my sister does not have that kind of cash stashed away.

The good is that an extremely generous person has loaned my sister the entire amount, and she was able to get the surgery done and get Sid back home.
