My name is Faya Crossby and I have started this Go-fund-Me for Shawn Benak.

This is Shawn Benak with his beautiful daughters. Sloane is 6 and Finley is 3 and a half.

In July of 2023, Shawn became incredibly ill. He was in and out of the hospital for weeks, running test after test, with no explanation and no help with the relentless cough, weight-loss, night shakes and fevers so bad he would vomit or even lose consciousness.

After 8 weeks of this, a full body scan revealed that Shawn had radically swollen lymph nodes all over his body, and a spleen so inflamed, it was in danger of rupturing. The lymph nodes were quickly biopsied, and a few days later, we found out he had an aggressive form of blood cancer.

Shawn was diagnosed with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma - an aggressive type of lymphoma that is most often diagnosed after it has reached an advanced stage, which his certainly had.

As of November, Shawn has been placed on long-term disability, while he undergoes chemo and an eventual a stem-cell transplant.

At this time, we don't know when Shawn may be able to go back to work. Whatever money is donated here, will go towards his monthly bills and expenses, and on his good days, creating memories with his two little girls.

Any funds remaining will be donated to the Blood Services of Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society.
