Hello, my name is Serena. At the beginning of April I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. To stop the damage that the inflammation MS causes your whole body, I was out on a course of high dose steroids intravenously for 8 days. These steroids are very hard in your body and cause your immune system to shut down. I unfortunately developed a litany of issues from these steroids including gastric ulcers, peptic ulcers that turned into a perforation in my small intestine, and liver masses. I had a horrible abdominal infection from the small intestine perforation and required surgery and several drain placements to get rid of the infection.

I still am in and out of the hospital for treatment of my lingering symptoms, terrible pain, and have been unable to start treatment for my MS.

Because this medical emergency happened, I have fallen behind on bills. I am unable to work and my husband is my ride to and from the frequent hospital visits.
