On Saturday, March 28th, at 9:35 p.m., our friend and loved one, Sean Morel, was struck by a vehicle in an intersection in New Westminster, BC. Emergency crews responded quickly, and Sean was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Sean was crossing at a crosswalk; there were witnesses, the driver remained, and the police are continuing their investigation.
Sean now faces a long and challenging road to recovery. As I write this, he is in the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital in critical but stable condition.
As Sean recovers, it will be slow. At this point, he has a broken jaw, ribs, multiple fractures in his face, has had titanium plates put in his jaw, reconstruction of his right knee, and a tracheotomy, and suffers an ongoing brain bleed under continuous monitoring. Sean will need significant support, physically, emotionally, and financially, on his road to recovery from this tragic accident.
Sean is someone who brings warmth, humour, and generosity into every space he enters. This fundraiser has been created by his sister, Natalie Suffron, to help ensure Sean can focus on recovery and rehabilitation once he is out of the hospital. Expenses such as medical and rehabilitation care, mobility and accessibility needs, transportation, and essential living costs are anticipated for him, and he unfortunately does not have savings to cover these anticipated needs.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help give Sean the space to focus on what matters most: healing. If you can contribute financially, it is greatly appreciated; if not, just sharing this page or keeping Sean in your thoughts is an amazing support.
Thank you for standing with Sean during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and support mean more than you know.
